Positive
Activity in the basin has been a positive feature historically, there is a sense that better opportunities exist elsewhere, both regionally and internationally. That notwithstanding, the outlook remains positive as host governments haver traditionally been responsive to the relative competitiveness of their licence regimes.

The Senegal Basin is one segment of the rifted passive margin that developed along the northwestern margin of Africa as North and South America separated in the Late Triassic. The complex tectonic and stratigraphic evolution of the rifted passive margin from the Triassic to Neogene is reflected in the spectrum of hydrocarbon reservoirs, traps, and source rocks.
Activity in the basin remains is a positive, if not at the levels observed elsewhere regionally. Nevertheless, host governments need to better understand at the sector is international in nature, and so they are not just competing with neighbours, but with their peers globally.
